Tom Miller, NC State's senior vice provost for academic outreach and entrepreneurship, was recently interviewed by the Trade Show Live to talk about entrepreneurship culture at the university and programs fostering a business-building environment. Platelet Microparticles Give Antibody Drug ‘Piggyback Ride’ to Repair Damaged Heart

Ke Cheng, the Randall B. Terry Jr. Distinguished Professor in Regenerative Medicine at the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine, is part of a research team that recently found platelet microparticles to be an effective way to deliver therapeutic drugs directly to the heart following a heart attack, increasing drug concentration at the site.

Sometimes Good News Comes in Bunches

After facing a series of challenges, the Bunch family was once again confronted with a financial hurdle when their guinea pig Rebecca was diagnosed with a tumor. Support from the Petco Foundation and Blue Buffalo helped them proceed with surgery at the NC State Veterinary Hospital — where Rebecca was given a clean bill of health.

After 33 years at the Wolfpack Club, Bobby Purcell is retiring as executive director on June 30. To honor Purcell and his extraordinary service, the Wolfpack Club is excited to establish the BP33 Scholarship Fund, which will fund student-athlete scholarships for generations to come.

College of Education Establishes Warfield Fellows in Memory of Chantal Warfield ’19

The NC State College of Education has announced the creation of the Warfield Fellows. This competitive eight-week internship program is supported through memorial contributions and furthers the legacy of Chantal Warfield, a May 2019 graduate who passed away this past October. Warfield was committed to addressing inequities that disproportionately impact low-income, first-generation and underrepresented student populations.

Friends of Arts NC State Board Awards the Bowers Medals

The Friends of Arts NC State Board of Advisors presented the 2019 Bowers Medal of Arts to Robert Black, Ormond Sanderson and Bing Sizemore. All three honorees have enhanced the arts at NC State and across North Carolina, playing critical roles in the construction and reopening of the Gregg Museum of Art & Design.
