Extraordinary Care, Extraordinary Appreciation

The extraordinary emergency care their horse Max received, as well as the cutting-edge work of the Intestinal Regenerative Medicine laboratory of assistant professor Liara Gonzales, inspired Mike and Mary Jo Matthies to make a bequest supporting equine research and equine medicine scholarships at NC State's College of Veterinary Medicine.

Her Dog Changed Lives. Now it’s Mary Jo Pringle’s Turn

Mary Jo Pringle has always had a special relationship with animals, including Blarney, a golden retriever named after the famed stone in Ireland. Since Blarney's death in 2010, Pringle has become a major donor to NC State's College of Veterinary Medicine, establishing a pair of planned gifts that will endow a research fund and chair in comparative pain research.

A Love for Students — and Cats, Too

Sandy Thach spent her NC State career helping students achieve their academic dreams. In retirement, she's helping them even more. She recently established the Sandy and Jerry Thach Endowed Scholarship at the College of Veterinary Medicine, and her generosity also will support an exam room for cat patients and the Companion Animal Pet Assistance Fund.

Making Her Mark

Stephanie Cogdell found a home at NC State and, as a volunteer, board member, mentor and donor, she has been giving back ever since. She has established a planned gift that benefits, in part, the Black Alumni Society’s Augustus Witherspoon Graduate Scholarship Endowment and Lawrence M. Clark Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship funds.

Statistics Alumna Makes Pledge to Create Professorships, Scholarships

Statistics alumna Nancy Ridenhour is an expert in assessing risk. When it came time to decide how to direct her estate, she knew NC State was a sure bet. She recently made a substantial planned gift to the College of Sciences and the Park Scholarships and Caldwell Fellows programs that includes funding for professorships, scholarships and experiential learning opportunities.

Inspired by his son Lewis' bequest to benefit NC State's Apiculture Science Fund, College of Engineering alumnus Jim Cauble decided to create a scholarship fund through his own planned gift.
