Six NC State Alumni Accept Miller Fellowships to Focus on their Startups

NC State Innovation and Entrepreneurship recently announced the newest cohort of Miller Fellows — young entrepreneurs that have launched startups as students. The fellowship program supports newly graduated entrepreneurs who wish to pursue their venture full time after graduation with resources and a monthly stipend.

Podcast: Cofounding the Extraordinary With 321 Coffee

On this episode of the NC State Philanthropy Podcast, we’re joined by Lindsay Wrege and Michael Evans of 321 Coffee. These Park Scholars cofounded the coffee company while they were freshmen at NC State with help from their scholarships, the Andrews Launch Accelerator and other sources of private support. The result: a Raleigh-based coffee company that currently employs more than 50 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Lynn Clark and His Family Support Faculty Excellence at Poole

Clark’s deep ties with NC State influenced his family’s decision to fund a professorship within the Poole College of Management during the university’s recent Think and Do the Extraordinary Campaign. That professorship, named in Lynn’s honor, was recently awarded for the first time, with Jeffrey Pollack named as the Lynn T. Clark II Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship.

NC State to Explore a New Building for the Poole College of Management on Centennial Campus

NC State will commission a design study to establish the overall space needs, costs and location for a potential new building for the Poole College of Management, as announced at the university’s buildings and property committee meeting on Jan. 26. Following the completion of the study, college and university leadership will determine whether to continue the project. If the decision is made to continue, the next step would be to raise funds for the construction of the new building.

Four Poole Faculty Receive New Distinguished Professorships

Four Poole College of Management faculty members were honored recently with distinguished professorships. The addition of Mark Beasley, Jesse Ellis, Jeffrey Pollack and Bill Rand brings the total number of distinguished professors in the college to 15, including Frank Buckless, the Stephen P. Zelnak Jr. Dean of the Poole College of Management.
