Wolfpack Pick Up Program Changes Gears for 2020

Supported in part by North State Bank and the NC State University Foundation, the Wolfpack Pick Up Program helps students, faculty and staff with disabilities or injuries get around campus, with additional precautions to protect the Pack against COVID-19 this year.

Immersive Scholar Residents to Explore Online Privacy through Gaming

Joelle Dietrick and Owen Mundy have started a large-scale immersive visualization project, a browser-based game named Tally Saves the Internet, to teach the public about online privacy and security. The Immersive Scholar residency program is part of a Mellon Foundation-funded project that continues the NC State University Libraries’ pioneering work with large-scale, research visualization technologies and supports the advancement of tools and techniques for developing and sharing such visual content for research.

First Group Participates in College of Education Summer Internship Program in Memory of Chantal Warfield

The College of Education recognizes its first participants in the competitive, eight-week summer internship program established to honor the impact and legacy of Chantal Warfield '19. Amaya Dicker '21, a middle grades English language arts and social studies education major who looked up to Warfield, and Teaching Fellow Breanna Goins '21 were the first students to receive support from the program, which is funded in part through a gift from the John M. Belk Endowment.

Dunning Honored for Forward-Thinking CVM Leadership

As associate dean for advancement, which includes both the fundraising and communications teams at the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Dianne Dunning brings a wealth of knowledge about science, public health and the human-animal bond to her duties. Recently, Susan and Randy Ward honored Dunning with a Coat of Excellence in recognition of "the value she brings to us, to the state and to the health of animals.”

Annual Shelton Leadership Forum Coming Up on Oct. 1

The Shelton Leadership Forum, heading into its 19th year, involves participants from all over North Carolina and surrounding states in a day focused on practical lessons in values-based leadership. This year's theme is Leadership Challenges: The Complexity of Leading Organizations with a Global Mindset. Scheduled keynote speakers include Chuck Robbins, Carla Harris and Anders Sorman-Nilsson.

Faculty and researchers at the NC State College of Education, including the Friday Institute for Educational Innovation, were awarded $4,371,540 to support 16 projects from April 1 to June 30, 2020.

A Fund Supporting Frenchies — and Many More

Grateful NC State Veterinary Hospital clients Joel Killion and Tate Garrison recently created the Baby J Fund in memory of their French bulldog. So far, the fund has helped more than 20 other clients afford care for their dogs with complex, chronic medical issues.

New Grant Program Funds Digital Inclusion Projects Across North Carolina

COVID-19 is exposing the disadvantages faced by students and adults who don’t have access to the internet or computer technology. In response to this immediate need, the Institute for Emerging Issues, with principal support from the John M. Belk Endowment, is helping to launch a new program called Building a New Digital Economy (BAND-NC) to provide rapid-response community innovation mini-grants to communities across the state.
