The need-based Ross M. and Michele M. Annable Scholarship at the College of Veterinary Medicine encourages commitment to serving the community. That's no problem for Annable Scholar and Air National Guard Staff Sgt. Chris Gaudette, whose personal motto is "do better, be better."

There, she heads efforts to celebrate the legacy and contributions of one of the most influential bluegrass and country-music banjo players in history.

Angela C. Caraway Family Scholarship a Dream Come True

Angela Caraway '95 has stayed connected to NC State through her work as the event planner for Packapalooza, and as a board member for the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity and for the National Diversity Advisory Board. She recently furthered that connection by establishing the Caraway Family Scholarship to support first-generation students from North Carolina's rural counties. A combination of planned and annual gifts helped Caraway realize her dream of honoring her family in this way.

College of Sciences Honors 2020 Solomon Scholar Graduates

Meet four outstanding members of the Daniel L. Solomon Scholars Program who completed their NC State degrees this spring. The program, which is currently made up of 19 named scholarships, honors the college’s inaugural dean who spent more than 30 years at NC State before retiring in 2015. Solomon Scholars are selected based on academic achievement, scientific leadership qualities and distinctive life experiences.

Two College of Veterinary Medicine students have received the American Veterinary Medical Foundation and Merck Animal Health Scholarship. Annable Scholar Paola Cruz Ramos '22 and Alexandra Fitton '21 are among 54 veterinary students worldwide honored with the award.
