Announcing the Park Alumni Society Board for 2024-2026

The Park Scholarships program recently announced the new board members of the Park Alumni Society for 2024-2026. The society was formed in 2003 to serve as a clearinghouse for information for Park alumni, foster interaction between alumni and current scholars, be involved in the program’s recruitment and selection process, and more. These six new members, along with three returning members, will further that work.

Chuck Flink Recognized as One of ASLA’s 2023 Awardees With LaGasse Medal

Charles A. “Chuck” Flink, FASLA, of Greenways Incorporated was recently named one of the American Society of Landscape Architects’ 2023 Honors Recipients. Flink is a committed NC State alumnus, donor and volunteer, including his current service on the NC State University Foundation Board.

After 15 years with the Poole College of Management, Janet Rakes retired Aug. 1 as an assistant director at the Poole College of Management Career Center. She will now pursue other interests, one of them being to work with undergraduates as a volunteer.

Chuck Flink Recognized as One of ASLA’s 2023 Awardees with LaGasse Medal

Charles A. “Chuck” Flink, FASLA is the 2023 recipient of the LaGasse Medal. An invaluable supporter of NC State, Flink is also a two-time alumnus of the College of Design, currently teaches as part of the Department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Design, serves as the director of the NC State Initiative for Community Growth and Development and is the owner and founder of Greenways, Inc.

Conversation and Coffee, International Style

Last fall, NC State’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, an ongoing education program aimed at adults over the age of 50, asked for volunteers to commit to meeting one-on-one with an international student monthly for one hour to help them improve their English conversational skills. Within a week, 20 pairs had been matched, and the program has proven quite successful.
