Diversifying Leadership: College of Design Leaders Council to Begin Recruitment

The College of Design’s Leaders Council has begun an effort to expand and diversify its membership. The volunteer group also hopes to broaden its influence through the creation of new committees.

Meet the 2021 Mathews Medal Winners

The Mathews Medal recognizes graduating seniors who have made NC State a better place. This year’s recipients include a Goodnight Scholar committed to paying it forward, a soccer player who helped form Pack United, a campus leader who has devoted time to projects including Service Raleigh and Feed the Pack, and a Park Scholar dedicated to promoting a culture of giving within the program.

Learn More About the Work of the NC State Engineering Foundation’s Board of Directors

The NC State Engineering Foundation Inc. was established in 1944 to aid and promote, by financial assistance and otherwise, engineering education and research at NC State. A board of directors made up of alumni and friends of the College of Engineering work with the foundation’s staff and the dean of engineering to set the group’s agenda.

College of Design graduates ClayVon Lowe, Reggie Howell and Britt Davis all have unique passions and professions, but they are also connected by the mentors who have guided them. By paying the act of mentorship forward, they have formed a bond that continues to shape their own lives and careers as well as those of others.

CHASS Honors Rader as Distinguished Alumnus

Judge Robert Rader was honored as the College of Humanities and Social Sciences’ 2020 Distinguished Alumnus during the NC State Alumni Association’s Evening of Stars Gala. Rader, who earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the university in 1978, recently retired as Chief District Court judge after 26 years on the bench — making him the longest serving District Court judge in Wake County history. Rader has served on the Dean’s Board for the college since 2014, is a member of the Chancellor’s Circle and has supported the CHASS Dean’s Fund Endowment, which provides unrestricted funding.

Meet Young Alumna Jennifer Woodson ’10

Jennifer Woodson’s passion for sustainable performance apparel brought her to NC State to pursue her graduate studies. That experience led to a number of years in the industry and the founding of her own independent consulting firm specialized in sourcing and developing textiles and materials for the apparel and accessories industry. Woodson now shares her expertise by volunteering as a graduate mentor for the Wilson College of Textiles, as well as serving as one of its regional representatives.
